Birthday-Special Goings-On
Cooqi Gluten-Free Delights is one year old! (the business, not the delights) Happy Birthday to us! And, as with any infant, what a rollicking and growth-filled, learning-filled year it has been. We've gone from our first tentative and naïve opening days with me and a staff of one-Kari-to this bustling operation of several gifted bakers (Kari now being one) and a team of caring counter staff. Our bakery cases pop with so many things I couldn't have dreamed we would be offering daily-and frequently selling out of! It's so exciting for me, that it turns out I was not the only one (as I suspected) who was fed up with yucky stale gluten-free food, and not going to take it anymore. The gluten-free public has embraced us warmly, and we intend to keep feeding you warm, delicious bread that is good for you.
Our actual birthday is December 13th. Come on by the bakery and join us in a festive and yummy slice of cake. Balloons for the little ones, silly hats for all. Heck, we might even throw a pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey picture up on the wall and offer you a blindfold and a spin (with prizes!). Everything a good birthday party needs. In addition, submit your name for a drawing to win one of our fabulous gift baskets filled with Cooqi goodies. The drawing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15th, at 3:45 pm (shortly before close-'you need not be present to win.') We will notify the winner, who can then arrange for pick-up at a time that is convenient. Come celebrate!
Holiday Specials
Well, here we are, the beginning of December-'tis that season! The holidays can be a fun and wonderful time of year, but also, as we all know, it can be a time of crowded schedules, cold, short days, and bad eating. We hope that Cooqi can be a little tropical island in the midst of this mental and physical stress: come on by, have yourself a coffee or hot chocolate, nosh on a pumpkin bar, and take a quiet moment. Know that, as always, all our goodies are deceptively delicious, yet packed with fresh whole grains, unrefined sweeteners, organic ingredients, and hidden nutrients that will feed your body and your spirit. You may want to offer our cookies or muffins or brownies to your office mates or holiday guests, caring for their health as well as their taste buds.
Cooqi Delights for the Holidays
A Couple Holiday-Related Notes:
- Dec. 23 hours - You may have noticed that Christmas is on a Tuesday this year. That's a bit unfortunate from the perspective of Cooqi shoppers, and relative to our out-of-whack Cooqi week. In the interest of convenience and greater accessibility for this holiday, we are offering special Sunday hours! We'll be open Sunday, December 23, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Come on by for all your last-minute gluten-free needs. Call ahead to reserve what you know you'll want.
Which brings me to our mantra: pre-order, pre-order, pre-order! I can almost promise you that we are going to run out of things-most likely the very things you want on the very day you make your way in to our shop. Possibly even the person just in front of you in line will have bought the last of the things youreally wanted and had to have. And without it, you'll be very sad. Perhaps a downward spiral will commence.
Let's avoid this. I want you happy, you want you happy We have some strategies. One option is that you can cultivate a mindset of adventure, accepting the options remaining in our case, perhaps as a sign that this is what you are supposed to have. OR you could pre-order! Simply call the bakery before you come (preferably at least a day before, at least four days for cakes during the holiday season), and we will joyfully set aside what you want, mark it as yours, and guard it carefully until you arrive to pick it up. And you do, and it's there, and all is good!

- Gift cards - we also have gift cards for those of you wanting to allow your giftee to make their own selections, or return for multiple visits. Cards are available in any denomination you choose, and can be refilled and reused.
- Cookie dough/sugar cookies - if seasonal cookie baking is part of your family tradition, but you aren't sure how to make it gluten-free, never fear, we've got your back. We'll be offering sugar cookie dough ready to roll out or slice, cut into shapes, and decorate to your heart's content. Easy, fun, yum!
